Number 47 - Bastion, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Sonic R

Another episode? A whole one?
Fair enough.

Is Minty still playing that Tales game? Is Jonathan likely to beat the 400 hour long Witcher 3 before Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases? Can Chris contain his excitement at winning his first Tetris Invictus Maximus?

Then the rankings. Ohhhh, the rankings.

Three games that we felt were very good. Three games that we felt were SO very good, that we took the time to talk them up within the very podcast you hold digitally in your hand.

The sumptuously narrated space-Western, Bastion.
The gorgeous, expansive collectathon masquerading as an action RPG, Xenoblade Chronicles X.
...and Sonic R?

We love games and we love you.

(please wash your hands and take care of one another)

Bonus Level - Halloween Special

Boo!

Haha just kidding it’s the fellas from Our Three Cents here!

One of the benefits of paying homage to our favourite games over a period of literal years means we can show appreciation for loosely related public holidays and the like. This week, instead of our rose tinted lenses we’re looking through novelty pumpkin shaped glasses to bring you our favourite ghoulish games and monstrous memories.

Sit back, crack open a cold cauldron of spooky stew and enjoy the spinning of spine tingling gaming yarns (into cobwebs, the spookiest string).

Number 64 - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Gunstar Heroes, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Look, mate, we know it's hard being the only kid in the playground during Monday lunch not talking about the latest Our Three Cents episode.

They'll all be talking up how Chris was banging on about the Mega Drive yet again whilst Jonathan and Minty had a bit of a Zelda love-in, and you'll be staring at your shoes thinking 'if only I were a centurion, if only I knew what the boys 64th favourite video games of all time were'.

Now you can. Now you can!

Embrace the cents.

Number 68 - Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse, The End is Nigh, Pokémon FireRed

This week on Our Three Cents, the chaps tackle another eclectic tryptic of games in the form of a significantly-formative childhood gaming experience featuring a mouse; an expectation-subverting modern platformer featuring a tumour; and an abbreviation-smattered classic RPG remake featuring some running shoes!

Also on the docket for discussion are Chris’ veritable summer-holiday-gaming stampede of activity; Jonathan’s veritable summer-holiday-gaming descent into pure unadulterated wartime bleakness; and Minty’s veritable summer-holiday-gaming instigation of Chris’ robo-dino-phobic beliefs!

More hyphenations than you can shake a stickily-sticky stick at!

Deal with it.

Number 69 - Street Racer, Rocket Knight Adventures, Sonic 3D Blast

Three more games.
And good ones at that!

Punch your mates (or your AI mates if you find yourself riding solo) in an early competitor to Super Mario Kart with Minty, zip around as an Opossum who finds itself adorned recklessly with a rocket propulsion system atop its back with Chris, and look quizzical at Sonic's roughshod attempt at an isometric adventure game with Jonathan.

Additionally, enjoy a discussion on veritable hot potatoes: videogame violence, uncouth youth, and digital literacy; some extremely late to the party views on Playdead's Inside; the perils of Kickstarter funded independent games; and technobabble that fuelled the 16-bit console wars!

And all of that within a spritely 32 minutes?! YES!

Number 71 - Banjo-Kazooie, Sonic & Knuckles, Sid Meier's Pirates!

Marvel as three ostensibly sober adults appear inebriated through sheer early 30s tiredness, as the boys discuss their 71st favourite videogames of all time.

Let Minty sleepily teach you why Banjo Kazooie a particular treat for the neurodiverse. Allow Jonathan to elucidate you on the echidna, and reflect on how accurately Sonic & Knuckles portrays this egg-laying mammal. Finally, let Chris refresh your GCSE English skills by recalling the difference between the definite and indefinite article in a tangential aside when discussing Sid Meier's Pirates.

Games, eh?

Number 74 - Terraria, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Creatures 2

In our most disparate trio of games yet, our three gamers discuss their 74th favourite video games of all time! Elsewhere, voyeurism, a sad fat man, a little red fella and a multitude of hats collide in our weekly video game chat! Oh, and Jonathan destroys Minty’s precious childhood memory. Whoops.

Number 75 - QuackShot Starring Donald Duck, Dishonored, Fantasy Life

As we reach the quarter mark in our countdown, a phenomenal phenomenon occurs with the first tri-peat of the series with Minty also reflecting on his interesting fictional existence! Elsewhere in this pun-tastic episode, Chris enjoys plunging his way down memory lane with a legendary Disney adventure and Jonathan once again reverts to his dastardly thieving ways! Else-elsewhere we also discuss the cons of retro throwbacks in games, alternative Japanese video game titles, the little known MMEU (Mickey Mouse Extended Universe) and we gain a new mascot in the gloriously-named Granny Rags!

Bonus Level - E3 2019 Special

E3, or the Eideo Eames Eonference, has come and gone once again to delight and disappoint swathes of angry entitled nerds. We take a break from our regularly scheduled chat about three games to tackle the mammoth docket of Everything Nintendo Announced, and Whatever That Thing They Wheeled Out Keanu Reeves For was. We discuss each company's approach to showcasing their upcoming releases and, whilst Jonathan attempts to retain some PokéOptimism, Minty is jumping aboard the Pokémon Hate Steam Train (this is a joke that references the setting of the new games by way of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and Minty wishes he’d come up with it when we recorded), and Chris is ready to cross oceans to raise a riot in the Pokémon head office! Come and listen to how we somehow talk about 60 games in 45 minutes!!

Number 82 - Pokémon Snap, SteamWorld Heist, Dragon Quest

This week on Our Three Cents, Minty joins in the Dead Cells fun, just as Jonathan is moving on to playing, what seems like literally, all the other games - ping-ponging from the ludicrously unchallenging Yoshi’s Crafted World to the sadistically-designed Shakira: Hips Lie Twice, and covering a myriad of other recent releases in between! Meanwhile Chris is getting his retro on with some lovely electro-synth mobile pinball action! The chaps also discuss their 82nd favourite video games of all time featuring such classic video-game tropes as shallow tools, pickup trucks, strategic anxiety and the origins of grinding! Plus our dear old friend, nominative determinism rears their appropriately-named head - gender un-assumed.

Number 91 - The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, Lemmings, Dynamite Headdy

This week on Our Three Cents, the boys forms a series of vendettas! Minty voices his frustrations with Ed McMillen; Jonathan is frankly livid with the developers of the Lemmings mobile game, and Chris continues his crusade against conventional logic when it comes to assessing which video games to spend his time on! And the terrible plague of worms continues to spread across another episode!

Number 92 - Comix Zone, Picross 3D, X-Men Legends

Really tight selection of games this week! Two linked by the medium of comics, two linked by being in 3D, 2 linked by nommynomive dooberryism, all 3 linked by being our 92nd favourite games.  Who will emerge as 1/100 of a Victor in the trivia showdown? Will the dog make a surprise cameo this week? Will Minty be able to continue the podcast in spite of his terrible case of worms? And what of the Deep Lore???

Number 95 - Golf Story, Sega Rally, Athlete Kings

In a lovely divisible-by-five-ranking episode, the 'fellas’ cast a critical eye on beloved children's authors, honour the sacrifice of Jonathan's dad's thumb, and scour the ancient Yahoo forums to confirm rumours surrounding Joe Satriani. Also there is video game. The week’s featured Smash spirits: Ashnard, Koffing and Linebeck.

Number 96 - Desert Golfing, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Bioshock Infinite

Now that the thrill of being united simply by the love of gaming has worn out, this episode sees us united by geography for the first time ever! With nothing but a table separating us, we have our first mobile game and noodle around the elitism shrouding the platform like a gamer fuel-induced fart, explore the layers of enjoyment of a inter-presenter gift, and gripe about the oft-referenced ‘golden’ age of When Video Games Were Hard. Includes a special appearance from a bumbling woodland friend in potential peril.

Number 97 - Pokémon Stadium, Sonic R, ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkatron

The chums converge on a recent release, which sends them off on a session of rampant nostalgia and unanswered questions. Why did Chris’ dad call his Blastoise ‘black cab?’ What did Minty do with a condom when he was ten? Can Jonathan keep this ship afloat? Find out as you listen to three people really hammer home just how thirty-something they all are.

Number 99 - SuperHot VR, Hydro Thunder, Puggsy

This week on Our Three Cents, Jonathan, Chris and Minty examine the full gamut of video game technology, discussing Virtual Reality and old school 16-bit ambitions! Plus, what have they been playing this week? Someone takes on Dark Souls for the first time - have they now succumbed to being a lifeless husk of a gamer? Find out in Episode 2, along with the reveal of the boys’ 99th favourite video games of all time!

Number 100 - Bomber Raid, Elebits, Clockwork Knight 2

In the inaugural episode of Our Three Cents, Jonathan Dunn, Chris Dow and Minty Booth discuss the first entry in their Top 100 Video Games of All Time lists. Join them in a trip down memory lane as they trawl the archives of their video game libraries to pull out three games they deem to be their 100th favourite game!
